Your Comfort Tree

I have a good relationship with trees. They are alive and dynamic. We have so many things in common with trees. Recently, I wrote a post on a treeand its shadow. This time I will talk about trees, obviously.
A leaf is a part of the tree, it grows with it. During its lifecycle, the leaf belongs to the tree. And how could it not?

One day, the leaf falls down from the tree. It might set on the ground or it might fly up in the air with the help of wind. In both cases, it doesn't belong to the tree anymore. It found its own direction. If it sets on the ground, then we know exactly what would happen to it. But, what if it flees and discovers the world. The leaf left its comfort zone.

Similarly, we grow inside our comfort zone. We feel safe and alive. We feel less anxious and stressed. The author Roy Bennett define it as "Comfort zone: simply means the routine of one’s daily life – it is a psychological state in which one feels familiar, safe, at ease, and secure."

We are always afraid of taking the first step. We forget that small steps matter, your baby steps will grow. Small changes are still considered changes. Consider that getting out of your comfort zone as a discovery. You will discover yourself, your strengths and your weaknesses. You will learn to overcome your fears.

As the leaf becomes aware of what is beyond the tree, you will become aware of what is outside your comfort zone. I would like to share with you this passage from a book by Emma Mardlin titled “Out of YourComfort Zone” :

“One of the most important things we can ever do if we really want something is to wholeheartedly believe in what we want and in everything we do and have the courage of our convictions. This way we’ll always achieve our goals, because we’ll have the motivation, drive and persistence to stick with things until we get exactly what we want. There are always bumps and challenges in life, but we’ll have the tenacity and patience needed to see things through and find solutions that will get us where we want to go. In this respect, patience and persistence, plus a strong belief in ourselves, really do pay off.”

  1. Still the leaf doesn't fly without wind.If there is no wind it will be either on the tree or on the ground but either way there is no comfort zone for her.
